University of Tennessee seeking a Pathologist to serve as the Director of the Cellular Processing Laboratory. The Director will have primary responsibility in the Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program and will also have an academic and clinical appointment in the Department of Pathology.


Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the Transplant & Cellular Therapy (TCT) leadership team Work to implement a coordinated service delivery strategy and contribute efficaciously to the organization's direction, policies, processes, and culture
  • Manage ongoing operations of the cell therapy processing program, as well as participate in the recruitment of additional team members as needed
  • Ensures compliance with requirements of all regulatory and accrediting bodies (i.e., FDA, FACT, AABB, CAP, CLIA) and participates on external scientific and professional committees in cellular and tissue therapeutics to advance the reputation of the supported programs
  • Works closely with the quality team to establish and optimize standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the cell processing facility along with oversight to adherence to all facility and equipment SOPs
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team care and clinical research within the UT Medical Center Cancer Institute and the UT Graduate School of Medicine - actively participate in the teaching of fellows, residents, and medical and graduate students


Qualifications

  • Expertise in the development of clinical Stem Cell Transplant/Cellular Therapy products is required
  • Have qualifications needed to be a laboratory medical director of a CLIA certified laboratory
  • Preferred experience in flow cytometry and hematology laboratory testing
  • Board Certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology as a MD or M.D. /Ph.D. or DO degree
  • Fellowship training in transfusion medicine and/or hematopathology
  • Minimum 2 years of cell processing experience and must be licensed or eligible for a TN medical license
