With more than 2,200 employees and capital expansions at all of our facilities, Tanner continues its tradition of innovation by ensuring that the residents we serve have access to the latest in medical technology.

Tanner provides a wide range of comprehensive medical services including cancer care, rehabilitation, occupational health, home health and hospice. Tanner's maternity centers deliver more than 1,700 babies each year and approximately 6,000 surgeries are performed each year in Tanner facilities.

Tanner is continuing to add new programs and facilities to meet the medical needs of our growing population area. Construction of a new hospital, Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica, was completed in fall 2003. The new facility includes expanded diagnostic imaging services and a dedicated Maternity Center.

Renovation of Higgins General Hospital was completed in spring 2003. The project included a complete facelift of the hospital exterior, new laboratory and emergency department and a 31,000-square-foot medical office building.

In the spring of 2003, a $5 million renovation and expansion of the Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton Intensive Care Unit (ICU) doubled the room space and added modern conveniences for ICU patients and their families. This state-of-the-art unit houses the latest in critical care technology while being staffed with highly skilled professionals. The new Heart and Vascular Center, completed February 2008, constructed above the ICU along with new classroom meeting space, dietary services, physicians lounge and administrative wing for Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. This expansion was over 142,000 square feet of new space added to the hospital at a cost of over $40 million.

The future holds many exciting opportunities at Tanner. We are currently building a new Behavioral Health Hospital, Willowbrooke. Willowbrooke, opening April 2009, will be the 1st dedicated behavioral health facility in the State of Georgia in over 20 years. We are also building a new multi-story Medical Office Building which will house many different specialties including Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics and our new Urgent Care center: Tanner Immediate Care located in Villa Rica, GA.
